Police were called to the 2600 block of Ridgecrest Drive just before 3 AM. Upon arrival, they discovered four people deceased and three critically injured individuals who were immediately transported to the ICU at UC Hospital.
The Florence Church of God revealed on Facebook that the shooting took place during a birthday celebration, where an intruder opened fire. Among the victims were a mother who was fatally shot and her daughter, who sustained injuries. All other fatalities are also understood to be adults.
The gunman had fled the scene before police arrived but was later spotted, prompting a high-speed chase. The pursuit ended on Dale Heimbrock Way when the suspect crashed into a ditch. Officers discovered that he had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound and he was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he later died. The identity of the suspect has not yet been released.
A heavy police presence remains at the scene as the investigation continues. At 8 AM, police confirmed that the three injured parties were in critical but stable condition. The Florence Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 859-371-1234.
