Los Angeles police have arrested four suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of ex-“General Hospital” actor Johnny Wactor, who was killed during a car theft in May.
Los Angeles, Bollywood Fever: Los Angeles police have arrested four individuals in connection with the tragic shooting of former “General Hospital” actor Johnny Wactor. The suspects, aged between 18 and 22, were apprehended early Thursday morning in various locations across Huntington Park, Inglewood, and other cities within LA County.
According to a news release from the LAPD, three of the suspects were booked on murder charges, while the fourth was charged as an accessory.
The arrests were made after officers executed search warrants, which led to the discovery of additional evidence.
However, the authorities have not yet disclosed further details regarding the nature of the evidence or the specifics of the arrests.
Johnny Wactor, a 37-year-old actor known for his role as Brando Corbin on the ABC soap opera General Hospital from 2020 to 2022, was shot and killed in the early hours of May 25.
The incident occurred when Wactor interrupted thieves attempting to steal the catalytic converter from his car.
After leaving work at a rooftop bar with a coworker, Wactor noticed three men tampering with his vehicle.
Without provocation, one of the men opened fire, fatally wounding Wactor. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The LA County medical examiner confirmed that Wactor died from a gunshot wound to the chest, ruling his death a homicide.
In an effort to identify the perpetrators, the LAPD released surveillance images of the suspects and their getaway car on August 5, appealing to the public for assistance.
Wactor, originally from South Carolina, had a varied acting career, with roles in popular TV series such as Station 19, NCIS, Westworld, and the video game Call of Duty: Vanguard.
His agent, David Shaul, described Wactor as someone who “always kept his chin up and kept striving for the best he could be.”
Earlier this week, at a news conference, Wactor’s mother, Scarlett Wactor, expressed her profound grief over the loss of her son.
“Grief is my constant companion,” she said, reflecting on the milestones she will no longer be able to share with him. “I can’t wish him happy birthday on Aug. 31 — he would have been 38. I can’t ask if he’s coming home for Christmas. I can’t ask how his day went.”
The arrests bring some measure of closure to a case that has left Wactor’s family, friends, and fans devastated.
