New Delhi, Bollywood Fever: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has suspended the license of an ice cream manufacturer in Pune after a 26-year-old doctor from Mumbai allegedly found a human finger in an ice cream cone on Wednesday. The incident led the doctor to lodge a complaint, prompting the FSSAI to take swift action.
“The premises of the ice cream manufacturer have been inspected by a team of FSSAI’s Western Region Office and its license has been suspended,” the FSSAI confirmed in a statement to ANI.
The manufacturer, based in Indapur, Pune, holds a central license. The FSSAI has collected samples from the seller’s premises for further analysis. Additionally, the State FDA has inspected the seller’s location in Mumbai and taken samples from the batch in question. The forensic lab report is still pending.
The Malad Police have also investigated the incident at Fortune Dairy. Their investigation aims to determine the date of manufacture for the ice cream batch, the manufacturing process, and any potential mishaps that may have occurred during production.
