Despite his high regard for Caitlin Clark, legendary UConn coach Geno Auriemma questions her readiness for the WNBA, citing concerns about her physicality and speed on the “Dan Patrick Show.”
Despite choosing to recruit Paige Bueckers over Caitlin Clark during their high school days, legendary UConn head coach Geno Auriemma still regards Clark highly.
This respect isn’t solely because Clark eliminated the 11-time NCAA Champion and his Huskies from the Final Four in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
Auriemma has long been vocal about Clark’s on-court skills, and his opinion hasn’t wavered since she joined the Indiana Fever in the WNBA. However, during an appearance on the “Dan Patrick Show” on Thursday, Auriemma expressed doubts about Clark’s readiness for the WNBA.
Speaking with Patrick, Auriemma remarked, “She’s just not built for the physicality of this league. And she’s not quick enough to get away from the physicality.”
Auriemma’s blunt critique of Clark was part of a broader commentary on both Clark and her Indiana Fever team.
The physical challenges Clark has faced so far seem to support Auriemma’s point.
