Georgia Bulldogs Close in on Five-Star Defensive Lineman Elijah Griffin Ahead of Week 8 Showdown

NFL News: As the Georgia Bulldogs prepare for their Week 8 game against Texas, they’re also making strides in recruiting five-star defensive lineman Elijah Griffin, who is set to announce his commitment on October 18.

College Football News, BollywoodFever: The Georgia Bulldogs are gearing up for their highly anticipated Week 8 matchup against the Texas Longhorns, but head coach Kirby Smart and his staff are also focused on securing their future by targeting some of the nation’s top 2025 recruits.

One of those prospects, five-star defensive lineman Elijah Griffin, was in Athens during Georgia’s 41-31 victory over Mississippi State and is nearing a commitment announcement. According to On3.com, Griffin, the No. 1 rated defensive lineman and No. 6 overall player in the 2025 class, is expected to make his decision on October 18.

Recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong reports that Georgia is the heavy favorite, with the Bulldogs holding a 95.5% chance of landing Griffin. Miami and USC are also in the running, but Georgia’s proximity, player development, and strong relationship with the coaching staff give them a significant edge.

“The Bulldogs have long been considered the favorite for Griffin, who spent his birthday in Athens,” Wiltfong noted. “Proximity, player development, and rapport with the coaching staff has Georgia leading on the On3 RPM.”

Griffin, a standout at Savannah Christian Prep, boasts a projected NIL value of $358,000. His announcement comes at a crucial time for Georgia, as they aim to bolster their defensive line with other top recruits, including fellow five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry.

If Georgia can secure a win over Texas and land Griffin’s commitment, it would be a significant boost as they continue their quest for sustained dominance in college football.
