Glen Powell opens up about the decision to cut a kissing scene with Daisy Edgar-Jones from their latest film ‘Twisters,’ revealing Steven Spielberg’s rationale and hinting at a possible sequel.

Bollywood Fever: Glen Powell, the charismatic actor known for his role in Top Gun: Maverick, recently shared some behind-the-scenes insights about his latest film, Twisters

The 35-year-old actor revealed that a much-anticipated kissing scene between him and co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones was cut from the film, leaving fans disappointed but intrigued.

During an interview with Screen Rant on August 15, Powell explained that the decision to remove the steamy scene came directly from executive producer Steven Spielberg, who believed the moment felt “too cliché” for the film’s tone.

“I’m taking it very personally,” Powell joked before adding, “I’m sure you’ve seen the behind-the-scenes, where I did get to kiss Daisy Edgar-Jones, which really is all that counts. [Laughs] We had a great time, and I’m really proud of the movie.”

Fans of the film were quick to express their disappointment over the missing kiss, especially since it would have given the movie a more traditional happy ending.

However, Powell reassured them that the response to the scene being cut shows how much people care about the movie. “I just love how excited people have gotten about that movie, and Daisy and I send each other the TikToks and the gifs. There’s so much funny stuff coming out of it. It’s fun.”

Daisy Edgar-Jones, who plays the lead opposite Powell, hinted at a potential sequel during a separate interview with Collider. “I think there’s something really wonderful about it feeling like there’s a continuation. This isn’t the end of their story. They’re united by their shared passion for something.”

Powell chimed in on the discussion, adding, “I also think that this movie is not about them finding love. It’s returning Kate to the thing that she loves, which is storm chasing. So that’s what you have at the end of the movie. They share this thing, and her passion is reinvigorated, and her sense of home is reinvigorated. I feel like a kiss would be sort of unrepresentative of the right goal at the end of the movie. And it is a good Spielberg note. It’s why that kid is still in this game. It’s amazing.”

Twisters follows the story of Daisy’s character, Kate, a former storm chaser who is lured back to the open plains to test a groundbreaking new tracking system.

Along the way, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens, a reckless social-media superstar played by Powell. The action-thriller was released on July 19 and also features performances from Anthony Ramos, Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney, and Sasha Lane.

While fans may have missed out on the on-screen kiss, the buzz surrounding the movie—and the possibility of a sequel—continues to build. As Powell noted, “kiss or no kiss, everybody’s a winner.”
