Grady Brosterhous’ late 1-yard sneak and Virginia’s defense help secure a 31-30 comeback win over Wake Forest. Anthony Colandrea throws for 357 yards and three TDs.
Bollywood Fever: In a thrilling finish, Grady Brosterhous scored a 1-yard touchdown with just over two minutes left to help Virginia rally for a 31-30 win over Wake Forest on Saturday night.
The Cavaliers (2-0, 1-0 ACC) secured the victory with a crucial defensive play when Malcolm Greene forced a fumble from Taylor Morin, recovered by Antonio Clary with 1:24 remaining.
The Cavaliers, who trailed 30-17 at the start of the fourth quarter, held off a last-ditch effort by Wake Forest (1-1, 0-1), whose final drive fell short of midfield, ending with a series of desperate laterals as time expired.
Anthony Colandrea led Virginia’s comeback with 357 passing yards and three touchdowns. His final TD was a 24-yard pass to Trell Harris that brought the Cavaliers within six points with 10:37 left in the game.
Colandrea then orchestrated a 12-play scoring drive, including two fourth-down conversions, culminating in Brosterhous’ game-winning sneak.
Wake Forest’s Hank Bachmeier threw for 403 yards and a touchdown, with Donavon Greene catching 11 passes for 166 yards and a score.
However, the Demon Deacons couldn’t stop Virginia’s late-game surge, giving the Cavaliers a dramatic ACC victory.
