Colorado State’s Henry Blackburn is under fire again for a hard shove on Travis Hunter in the 2024 game, sparking fan outrage after last year’s controversial hit.
BollywoodFever: The Colorado State-Colorado rivalry once again brought drama in 2024, with Colorado’s 28-9 victory over the Rams in Fort Collins.
However, much like the previous year, the spotlight fell on Colorado State’s safety Henry Blackburn for a controversial hit on Buffaloes star Travis Hunter.
In the 2023 matchup, Blackburn made headlines for a late hit that knocked Hunter out of the game with a lacerated liver, sending him to the hospital.
While the two players eventually reconciled, tensions resurfaced during the 2024 game when Blackburn delivered another hard shove on Hunter after a touchdown catch in the fourth quarter.
Footage shows Blackburn raising his shoulder as Hunter went to the ground, sparking outrage from fans on social media. Many took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their frustration, with comments like, “Henry Blackburn SUCKSSSSS,” and “Blackburn clearly didn’t learn from last year with them late hits.”
Fans were especially concerned due to the violent history between the two players, with one fan noting, “Blackburn tried to get him again lame.”
While Blackburn’s hit was not penalized, it reignited a controversy that began the previous year, when he received death threats after his 2023 hit on Hunter. Fans were quick to condemn Blackburn’s actions once more, accusing him of playing dirty out of frustration.
The night was especially rough for Blackburn on the field as well, as he was burned multiple times by Colorado’s offense. Despite the Rams’ loss, Blackburn’s actions have made headlines again, leaving a sour note on an already difficult game.
