Lynne McGranger, known for her role as Irene Roberts on Home and Away, updates fans on Instagram following surgery to remove her overactive thyroid. The 71-year-old actress is now in recovery.
Bollywood Fever: Lynne McGranger, beloved for her role as Irene Roberts on the long-running Australian soap opera Home and Away, recently shared an update with her fans following a significant medical procedure.
The 71-year-old actress took to Instagram to post a picture of herself in a hospital bed, revealing that she had undergone surgery to remove her overactive thyroid.
In her heartfelt caption, Lynne explained the reasons behind the surgery and expressed her gratitude towards the medical staff who cared for her during this critical time.
“Less than a week ago, my toxic overactive thyroid and I parted ways. It was a long time coming—we were incompatible and quite frankly, I was exhausted,” Lynne wrote. She went on to thank the team at Mater Hospital North Sydney, including the nurses, doctors, specialists, and support staff, for making the process as smooth as possible. She gave special mention to Prof Sidhu, Dr. Michael Morris, and several others for their exceptional care.
An overactive thyroid, as described by the NHS, occurs when the thyroid gland produces an excess of hormones, leading to symptoms such as mood swings, difficulty sleeping, and weight loss.
This condition, while treatable, can be exhausting and challenging to manage, which Lynne alluded to in her message.
