Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is on the verge of breaking a WNBA record for most 20-5-5 games in a season, closing in on Breanna Stewart’s 2023 record.
Bollywood Fever: Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark is making waves in the WNBA with a historic season, inching closer to another remarkable feat.
In Saturday’s matchup against the Minnesota Lynx, Clark delivered yet another stellar performance, scoring 23 points, grabbing five rebounds, and dishing out eight assists in 38 minutes.
Despite the Fever’s 90-80 loss, Clark’s performance marked her 11th 20-5-5 game of the 2024 season, putting her just one game shy of tying the WNBA record.
Breanna Stewart of the New York Liberty currently holds the record for the most 20-5-5 games in a single season, with 12 such performances in 2023, according to Stat Mamba.
Since the WNBA’s return from the Olympic break, Clark has been on fire, achieving a 20-5-5 stat line in all three games she’s played.
The Fever have gone 2-1 in those games, with their lone loss coming against the Lynx.
Clark’s impressive season averages of 17.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 8.3 assists put her on track to surpass Stewart’s record.
With 11 games left in the regular season, Clark has ample opportunity to set a new benchmark, which would be an incredible milestone, especially for a rookie.
While making history is certainly on the horizon, Clark’s primary focus remains on leading the Fever to the playoffs.
The team, currently 13-16, sits in the seventh seed, holding a one-and-a-half game lead over the eighth-seeded Chicago Sky.
As the Fever aim to secure their playoff spot, Clark’s record-breaking pursuit adds an exciting dimension to the remainder of the season.
Should Clark break the record, it would not only highlight her individual talent but also cement her status as one of the most promising young stars in the WNBA.
