US influencer Carly Weinstein’s bikini photos from Spain go viral, promoting body positivity and sparking an online movement. Discover why her realistic body image resonates with many.
Carly Weinstein, a US influencer and podcast host, has found herself at the center of a body positivity movement after her bikini photos from a vacation in Spain went viral. Captured posing in a golden bikini while enjoying the sun in Mallorca, Carly’s photos quickly gained traction online, with many women praising her for promoting a ‘realistic’ body image.
The unexpected reaction left Carly dumbfounded, prompting her to discuss the impact of her photos. In an Instagram post, she expressed surprise at the public’s response, stating: “I posted a bikini photo around a week ago and it kinda went viral because of the way my body looks. So many people have been commenting things like ‘this is what a real body looks like’, or ‘I finally see a body that looks like mine!'”
She added, “Firstly, this sent me into a spiral because I didn’t even think twice about the fact that it might have looked like a ‘realistic’ body to some people, I was just vibing in my bathing suit showing off my awesome view!”
Carly used this moment to highlight the ongoing lack of body diversity in the influencer industry and social media. “I’m not just talking about the lack of different body size, but also a lack of things like cellulite, bruises, peach fuzz, things that are totally normal and human,” she explained.
In a podcast episode of “The Real with Carly Weinstein,” she delved deeper into issues concerning body image, noting how her initial “shock” and “confusion” gradually transformed into understanding. Carly realized that women are “tired” of societal beauty standards.
“This post is not meant to be preachy because I’m just like all of you—I absolutely do not like what I see in the mirror all the time and that is fine,” she stated. Carly emphasized that people’s worth isn’t dictated by their physical appearance, urging her followers to “give yourself grace” and remember that “no one will ever remember you because of how you looked, but rather the impact that you made on others.”
Concluding her message, Carly said, “A photo like that shouldn’t send everyone into oblivion. You don’t need to strive for perfection, you’re worthy just the way you are.”
Her Instagram post, along with a video version on TikTok, garnered widespread reactions. One user commented, “We are just so tired of filters and smoothing pictures before posting them that seeing this just felt so refreshing and real.” Another appreciated Carly’s authenticity: “I feel like we’re only seeing extremes like models or really fashionable plus size. But not really in between.”
Carly’s message resonated deeply, inspiring many to embrace their bodies and take more photos without self-consciousness. One user lamented, “This makes me sad. I went to Jamaica, and Mexico and refused pics because I felt so self-conscious… I should’ve taken the pics, you look so hot,” while another echoed, “This motivated me to just stop freaking out internally and take the picture.”
Carly Weinstein’s viral photos have sparked a significant conversation about body positivity, encouraging many to celebrate their bodies just the way they are.
