Jackie Zeman dies at the age of 70
Jackie Zeman, recognized for her portrayal on the ABC drama series “General Hospital,” passed away at the age of 70. Zeman had been an integral part of the program for over 45 years. According to ABC News, her family revealed that she died following a brief struggle with cancer.
The specifics of her passing have not been disclosed, but Executive Producer Frank Valentini shared a statement on Twitter on Wednesday evening:
“On behalf of our General Hospital family, I am heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Jackie Zeman,” he wrote. “Just like her character, the legendary Bobbie Spencer, she was a bright light and true professional that brought so much positive energy with her to work.”
Valentini said her “positive spirit” will be missed and “will always live on with our cast and crew.”
Prior to assuming the role of Lana McClain on the ABC soap opera “One Life to Live” until 1977, Zeman played various minor roles. In the same year, she was ultimately cast as Bobbie Spencer on “General Hospital.”

Zeman had a long-standing association with “General Hospital,” having been a regular cast member on the show for more than 45 years. She was highly regarded for her portrayal of Bobbie Spencer, a role that earned her a Daytime Emmy Award nomination in 1980 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Zeman was also an advocate for breast cancer awareness, having survived the disease herself. She was married twice and had two children. Zeman passed away on May 10, 2023, at the age of 70, after a short battle with cancer.
