Jalen Milroe delivers a standout performance in Alabama’s 41-34 win over Georgia, boosting his Heisman odds. Milroe’s 374 passing yards and four touchdowns impress Greg McElroy.
BollywoodFever: The SEC has long been known for producing top-tier quarterbacks, with legends like Peyton Manning, Tim Tebow, Jalen Hurts, and Tua Tagovailoa making their mark. Last season, LSU’s Jayden Daniels continued the tradition by winning the Heisman Trophy. Now, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe is adding his name to the list of standout performers with a phenomenal Week 5 performance against Georgia.
Greg McElroy broke down Week 5’s biggest games on his “Always College Football” podcast, focusing on the Alabama vs. Georgia showdown. The highly anticipated top-four matchup ended with a thrilling 41-34 Alabama victory, featuring two lead changes in the final three minutes. Georgia quarterback Carson Beck connected with Dillon Bell on a 67-yard touchdown pass, but Alabama quickly responded as Ryan Williams scored a jaw-dropping 75-yard touchdown.
McElroy was particularly impressed with Jalen Milroe’s performance. The Alabama quarterback put on a clinic, amassing 374 passing yards, 117 rushing yards, and four total touchdowns. McElroy described Milroe as “outrageously good” and said it was “probably the best he’s ever been by a mile,” highlighting his ability to run, throw, and make defenders miss. He also praised Milroe’s improved anticipation in the passing game, noting that it’s something that doesn’t always translate on television.
Milroe, who experienced a head coaching change this offseason under Kalen DeBoer, is delivering solid numbers for Alabama. Through four games, he has racked up 964 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, and just one interception, alongside 264 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.
Following his impressive Week 5 showing, Milroe’s Heisman odds have risen to +210, according to FanDuel. Alabama’s last Heisman winner was quarterback Bryce Young in 2021, and Milroe is now firmly in the conversation.
Alabama will look to continue their winning streak in Week 6 when they face the Vanderbilt Commodores on the road. Kickoff is set for Oct. 5 at 4:15 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
