World number one Jannik Sinner breezes past Miomir Kecmanovic in straight sets to secure a spot in the Wimbledon fourth round. Read about his dominant performance.
Bollywood Fever: Â Jannik Sinner switched to cruise mode at Wimbledon as the world number one breezed past unseeded Serb Miomir Kecmanovic 6-1, 6-4, 6-2, securing a place in the fourth round on a damp Friday.
Following a grueling battle with fellow Italian Matteo Berrettini that ended just before the 11 p.m. local curfew on Wednesday, the 22-year-old Sinner wasted no time under the roof on Centre Court. A backhand rocket earned him an early break, setting the tone for the opening set, which he sealed in just 21 minutes, dropping only one late game.
Kecmanovic, facing an uphill task having never beaten Sinner in their three previous meetings, did well to delay the inevitable in a tight second set. However, the Australian Open champion soon tightened his grip, breaking for a 5-4 lead before blasting three aces to close out the set and take a commanding two-set lead.
The winners continued to flow from Sinner’s racket as the lanky top seed raced to another huge lead in the third set. Kecmanovic’s resistance crumbled, and he sealed his fate with an error, allowing Sinner to advance comfortably.
Sinner’s dominant performance highlights his form and determination as he progresses deeper into the tournament. With his eyes set on the Wimbledon title, the young Italian’s relentless play and strategic prowess make him a formidable contender on the grass courts.
