Jason Kelce expressed initial doubts about Simone Biles’ performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics due to her age, but was quickly proven wrong as Biles soared to new heights, solidifying her status as the greatest gymnast of all time.
Bollywood Fever: Jason Kelce, who attended the 2024 Paris Olympics with his wife Kylie, recently admitted that he had doubts about Simone Biles‘ ability to live up to her GOAT (Greatest of All Time) status at this year’s competition.
During the premiere of the “New Heights” podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother, Travis Kelce, the retired Philadelphia Eagles center revealed his concerns given that Biles, at 27, was older than many of the other gymnasts competing.
“We watched like every [Team USA gymnastics] girl go and do the floor routine, and Simone Biles was the last person. I’m like, you know she’s getting older. She’s a little bit… we’ll see how she looks,” Jason, 36, shared with his brother.
Travis, taken aback by Jason’s doubts, quickly defended Biles, calling her an “anomaly”—a statement to which Jason immediately agreed.
“She is the anomaly because she jumped higher than everybody, and it wasn’t even close,” Jason acknowledged.
He described how watching Biles perform her floor routine was a revelation. “Within the first three seconds, you’re like, ‘Oh, that’s different.’ She just jumped five feet higher than everybody else that has done this.”
Simone Biles, known for her incredible ability to soar up to 12 feet in the air during her floor routine, once again proved why she is regarded as the greatest gymnast in history.
Biles’ performance at the Paris Olympics, where she took home gold medals in the team finals, individual all-around finals, and vault finals, along with a silver medal for her floor routine, solidified her legacy.
Travis praised Biles for overcoming the challenges she faced, including withdrawing from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics due to the twisties, and returning to become the most decorated Olympic gymnast ever.
It’s such a feel-good story knowing the past and everything that she’s had to go through and just to feel confident and getting back up there mentally,” Travis said. “It’s the best, man. So happy for her. And America is so proud of her, man.”
Jason agreed, noting that watching Team USA’s female gymnasts, who placed first in the team competition, receive their gold medals was the “highlight of the Olympics.”
Biles’ accomplishments at the 2024 Paris Olympics have brought her total to 11 Olympic medals and an additional 30 World Championship medals, making her the most decorated gymnast in history.
