Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have officially called it quits after two years of marriage. The couple, who wed in 2022, are filing for divorce, marking the end of Bennifer 2.0.
Bollywood Fever: Bennifer 2.0 has officially ended. Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck on Tuesday, marking the conclusion of their two-year marriage, Page Six has confirmed.
TMZ, the first to report the news, revealed that Lopez filed the paperwork on her own, without the assistance of an attorney, a legal move known as pro per.
Coincidentally, the filing occurred on the two-year anniversary of their lavish Georgia wedding ceremony, which followed their intimate elopement in Las Vegas in July 2022. Lopez listed the date of their separation as April 26, 2024.
Notably, Lopez’s filing did not address whether the couple had a prenuptial agreement, with sources suggesting they did not. She also waived spousal support and requested that the judge deny any such support for Affleck as well.
The 55-year-old singer and 52-year-old actor first ignited breakup rumors in May 2024 amid reports that they had begun couples therapy. Although neither Lopez nor Affleck publicly commented on the rumors, Affleck was seen without his wedding ring shortly thereafter, hinting at trouble in their relationship.
TMZ later reported that Affleck had moved out of their Beverly Hills mega-mansion and was spotted staying at a house in Los Angeles’ Brentwood neighborhood, approximately 30 minutes from their marital home. He was frequently photographed coming and going from the property without Lopez, raising further speculation.
Fans soon noticed that the couple hadn’t been seen together in public for over a month and a half. Around the same time, sources informed Page Six that Affleck was actively house-hunting in the area, while Lopez was also spotted touring homes in Los Angeles with her longtime producing partner, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, in mid-May.
A source close to the couple shared that Affleck might have pursued a divorce due to what he could describe as “temporary insanity,” suggesting that he finally “came to his senses” after what felt like a “fever dream.”
In June, Lopez embarked on a solo vacation to Italy, enjoying time on a luxury yacht before attending the Dior fashion show in Paris. During her time in Europe, Affleck reportedly moved all of his belongings out of their Beverly Hills home, fueling further speculation about their impending split.
The divorce rumors reached their peak when the couple listed their marital home for sale in July, seemingly confirming that their relationship had come to an end.
