California, Bollywood Fever: Â JoJo Siwa has reached the top of another list, but it’s not one she might have expected. The Dance Moms alum has faced significant criticism since releasing her song “Karma” in April, and now it has become YouTube’s Most Disliked Music Video by a Female Artist in 2024.
In a TikTok video posted on July 18, JoJo recounted the top disliked music videos, starting with Ariana Grande‘s “yes, and?” in fourth place with 290,000 dislikes, followed by Katy Perry‘s “WOMAN’S WORLD” in third place with 330,000 dislikes, and Taylor Swift‘s “Fortnight” in second place with 350,000 dislikes.
“Your number one first place overall,” JoJo announced excitedly, “goes to ‘Karma’ by JoJo Siwa with an astonishing, record-breaking 3.1 million dislikes!”
Despite the negative feedback, the 21-year-old remains optimistic and sees a silver lining in topping the list. “You know, I am the only person that can say I beat Taylor Swift on a list of something,” she joked. “I’ll take it.”
JoJo, who is a judge on So You Think You Can Dance, has been vocal about her excitement for entering her adult era, attributing the criticism to people’s fear of the unknown. “Things can be scary for people,” she told E! News in April. “New things can be very, very scary.”
However, JoJo appreciates the validation she has received from respected musicians like Lil Nas X and Meghan Trainor. “The way that I’m able to keep going and keep being like, ‘Wait, actually what I’m doing is right,'” JoJo explained, “is because some of the most respected people in the world have come up to me and been like, ‘What you’re doing right now is so right. It is what the world needs, and I’m learning from what you are doing right now.'”
Support from these admired figures means the world to her. Despite the backlash, JoJo Siwa continues to pursue her career with determination and a positive attitude.
