Bollywood Fever: Judge Greg Mathis, widely known for his long-running TV show “Judge Mathis,” is now facing a personal legal battle of his own.
His wife, Linda Yvette Mathis, has filed for divorce after 39 years of marriage, according to court documents filed on August 22. The filing cites “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.
Linda, 61, listed July 17 as the official date of separation from Greg, 64. In the divorce petition, she is seeking spousal support and has requested that the requirement for spousal support be waived. Additionally, Linda is asking that Greg pay her attorney’s fees.
As of now, Greg has not yet responded to the divorce petition.
The couple, who starred together on the reality show “Mathis Family Matters,” met while attending Eastern Michigan University.
They dated for four years before getting engaged and eventually married. Over their nearly four-decade-long marriage, they welcomed four children: sons Greg Jr., 35, and Amir, 34, and daughters Jade, 39, and Camara, 36.
Greg Mathis has often spoken about how crucial Linda’s support was to his career. Reflecting on his success upon receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, he said, “After coming out of the streets in Detroit, Linda allowed me to work 15 hours a day, five, six days a week. So it’s that support that allowed me to pursue the success that you see.”
Linda echoed this sentiment at the time, stating, “Our love and support runs deep. That’s how the Mathis family rolls.”
Judge Mathis presided over his eponymous TV courtroom for 24 years, ruling on more than 13,000 cases until the show ended in 2023. He has since premiered a new show, “Mathis Court With Judge Mathis,” last fall.
The news of their divorce marks a significant change for the Mathis family, who have long been a symbol of love and support in the public eye.
