Bollywood Fever: Julianne Hough hasn’t forgotten about the viral video that took the internet by storm in early 2020. The 36-year-old “Dancing With the Stars” co-host recently revisited the moment during a conversation with Kaitlyn Bristowe on the “Off the Vine” podcast, where she discussed the energy work session that sparked widespread attention.
The video in question captured Hough during an energy work session with Dr. John Amaral at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. In the clip, Dr. Amaral can be seen floating his hands above Hough’s body, which responded with wave-like movements and orgasmic-like screams. The unusual session led to a flurry of reactions, with many speculating about what was happening.
“I’ve had a few of those supernatural experiences and had a lot of people be like, ‘Oh, she’s lost the plot,’” Hough recounted. “I did this energy work session, and it went viral. People were like, ‘She’s got demons and an exorcist coming out of her butthole!’”
Despite the online mockery, Hough is far from embarrassed by the experience. In fact, she believes that energy work has become much more accepted in the years since. “Of course, that was almost five years ago and now it’s so much more accessible,” she noted. “People understand what’s happening. Energy is everything.”
Hough also praised society’s growing openness to exploring energy work and gave a nod to Gwyneth Paltrow for her role in popularizing the practice. “Whatever you say about her, she’s ‘woo woo’ or whatever, I am so grateful for her,” Hough said of the Oscar-winning actress. “Because she probably took more flack from anybody out there because she was a pioneer. And when you’re a pioneer in something and you have the courage and the guts to put it out there, you will absolutely get backlash, completely. I give her props.”
Reflecting on the 2020 session, Hough explained that the experience left her feeling more liberated. “I feel so much more liberated on the inside that I can speak my truth clearly, stand in my power and not feel overtaken by emotion, my mind and I feel free inside myself to just be,” she said at the time. “Our body is our vessel to hold our energy and that is the most prominent thing that we can take care of.”
