The Kansas City Chiefs have released defensive tackle Isaiah Buggs following his second offseason arrest, including charges of domestic violence and burglary.
Bollywood Fever: Isaiah Buggs’ tenure with the Kansas City Chiefs has come to an abrupt end after just a few months, as the team officially released the 27-year-old defensive tackle following his second offseason arrest.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero broke the news on Monday morning, stating that the Chiefs decided it was best to move on from the troubled player.
Buggs was arrested on June 17 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, after being accused of breaking into a woman’s house and dragging her down the stairs. The woman, who is the mother of Buggs’ child, claimed that as he dragged her down the stairs, several of her “clip-on toenails” broke off. Documents obtained by TMZ Sports indicate that officials observed scratch marks on her body.
When the woman said she was going to call the police, Buggs fled the scene. He was later found in a nearby Little Caesars parking lot, where police apprehended him. Buggs was charged with domestic violence and burglary.
This incident marks the second arrest for the five-year NFL veteran. In late May, he was booked on charges of animal cruelty.
Buggs, who has also played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Detroit Lions, has totaled 89 tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble in his career. It was believed that he would be competing for a spot on the Chiefs’ 53-man roster this season, but now he finds himself out of a job as his legal issues continue to unfold.
