Despite the turnover, the Chiefs defense stepped up and forced a Falcons punt.

Kansas City’s offense regained momentum on their next possession, executing a 13-play drive, which ended with Mahomes hitting Rashee Rice for a 13-yard touchdown pass, tying the game at 7-7. Rice, a second-round pick, has made an immediate impact this season, leading the Chiefs in receiving with 54 yards and five receptions.

Mahomes, who has completed 12 of 18 passes for 94 yards with a touchdown and an interception, has also targeted rookie Xavier Worthy three times in the game so far.
