Kate Beckinsale shares a heartwarming day out with her mother in Chiswick, London, while addressing recent health concerns and personal challenges.
Kate Beckinsale embraced the British way of life as she spent a day out in the affluent suburb of Chiswick, south-west London, with her mother, Judy Loe, on Monday. The actress, 51, was spotted enjoying lunch with her mum at a local branch of Nandos, eschewing the area’s finer dining options.
Dressed in a floral summer dress and knee-high leather boots, Kate documented their day out on Instagram. The duo also visited Marks & Spencer, where they searched for popular British snacks like Skips and Quavers before returning to their car, only to find a parking ticket waiting for them. Captioning her posts, Kate, who spends much of her time in Los Angeles, wrote: “Going round Chiswick with my mama makes my solar plexus relax- also we got Quavers and Skips- look out America.”
Recently, Kate has faced concerns from fans regarding her unexplained health issues, which included hospital stays and noticeable weight loss. Addressing these concerns earlier this month, she revealed that her weight loss was due to the “stress and grief” of her stepfather’s death and her mother’s cancer diagnosis.
Kate responded to some harsh comments from followers who criticized her appearance in an Instagram post where she wore a crop top and bikini bottoms. One follower questioned where her “a**” had gone and encouraged her to do squats, while another claimed she seemed upset.
Kate hit back, explaining the reasons behind her changed figure: “No, actually, I watched my stepfather die quite shockingly, my mother has stage 4 cancer and I lost a lot of weight from stress and grief. Quite quickly, and then I was in hospital for six weeks because the grief had burned a hole in my oesophagus, which made me vomit copious amounts of blood, and I found eating very hard. And I just worked very very hard on a movie that was actually quite triggering because it also involved the theme of the death of my father so I’m not really concerned about what you think about my a**. Maybe you should worry about your own f*ing a. I suggest shoving something up it, like a large pineapple or a brick.”
Kate’s stepfather passed away in January after suffering a massive stroke while battling two forms of cancer. Shortly after his death, Kate revealed that her mother had been diagnosed with stage four cancer.
Throughout the year, Kate has been caring for her mother and late stepfather, having flown them out from the UK to stay with her in Los Angeles. A source revealed to DailyMail.com, “Kate has been caring for her parents, who both have serious illnesses, for most of the year.”
Despite these challenges, Kate continues to find moments of joy, such as her recent outing with her mother, and remains resilient in the face of personal struggles.
