Kelly Clarkson Reveals Reasons Behind Relocating Her Talk Show
In a recent revelation, Kelly Clarkson shared her decision to move her eponymous talk show from Los Angeles to New York City, emphasizing the importance of family and the need for a fresh start. Speaking with TalkShopLive, Clarkson disclosed that she had informed her staff about the move in January, explaining, “It’s either I’m not going to be able to continue the show or I gotta go East Coast.” The pandemic made her realize the significance of being closer to her East Coast-based family, especially during times of isolation. Clarkson expressed gratitude to NBC for supporting her decision and requested the opportunity to film the show in New York, as it would bring her closer to her loved ones. The Kelly Clarkson Show will make the move to NBC Studios at Manhattan’s 30 Rockefeller Center, specifically Studio 6A, this fall. The show, currently in its fourth season, has been based in Los Angeles since its debut in 2019 but has previously featured special week-long stints in New York City.
This news comes on the heels of an exposé by Rolling Stone, where 11 current and former staffers alleged a “toxic work environment” on The Kelly Clarkson Show. In response, Clarkson took to Instagram, expressing her commitment to creating a safe and healthy environment for her team. She pledged to ensure a smooth transition for the team moving to New York and to cultivate the best and kindest professionals in the industry.
While the exposé highlighted claims of overwork and underpayment, with negative effects on mental health, Clarkson herself was described as “fantastic” and unaware of the staff’s unhappiness. Sources suggested that she had been shielded from the issues by the executive producers.
