Career Of Yung Miami
JT and Yung recorded their debut studio track, “F*ck Dat Nigga”, which was a diss track towards their ex-boyfriends for not giving them money when they asked.
Yung Miami promoted it through social media and by paying DJs to play it in clubs. Soon the track, which features a prominent sample of fellow Florida rapper Khia’s “My Neck, My Back (Lick It)”, racked up hundreds of thousands of plays.
The official music video for the song came out in January 2018 and featured an appearance from rapper Trina.
Later that year, the track was included in Quality Control’s compilation album, Control the Streets, Volume 1.
After signing to Quality Control Music, the duo were ranked as the most popular developing artists of the week, according to the measuring activity across Billboard charts Hot 100, the Social 50, and Billboard 200.
In May 2018, the City Girls released their debut mixtape, Period, which reached No. 16 on Heatseekers Albums the same month.

As reported by RollingStone: Caresha Brownlee and Jatavia Johnson – Yung Miami and JT, respectively – met as teens. They met through mutual friends; Brownlee was close with Johnson’s cousins, and Johnson knew Brownlee’s middle school best friend.
As Brownlee puts it, growing up in Miami means growing up fast. “My childhood was an adult childhood,” she recalls, noting that while she was not allowed to go to strip clubs herself as a teen, Johnson would go to them with their friends at 17.
“Eleven months ago, I was just on Instagram selling clothes, and now I’m on a song with Drake.”
“[I’d go] to block parties and clubs,” she continues. “Everything in Miami closes late. A regular strip club closes at like 5:30 or 6 a.m. A teen club was closing at 2. We teenagers! What we gonna do outside of the house at 2 o’clock in the morning?”
Though rapping came later, a love of hip-hop music started early. “My little boyfriend used to take me to school every day, so I grew up listening to a lot of trap music,” she explains, citing Young Jeezy and Miami staples like Trina and Trick Daddy as early favorites.
A career in music was far from Brownlee’s mind until last year. Instead, her sights were set on fashion. She set up an Instagram page called Caresha’s Collection (“My name’s Caresha and it was my collection,” she explains) and sold bandage dresses and wigs. With her rising star power, she’s hoping that she can eventually get an endorsement or maybe even design her own collection.

In 2013, Yung Miami stated that she would not want one of her sons to be gay and would beat him if she found out that he was.
Reported by Billboard: Miami found herself in more hot water on Tuesday (Nov. 13) after her appearance on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, where she doubled down on her homophobic statements.
Speaking with host Charlamagne Tha God, Miami was asked about her controversial tweet that said what she would do if she had a gay son. “I didn’t tweet nothing about them [the LGBTQ community],” she said. “I was just talking about my son. I just said that if I saw anything gay in my son, that I would beat him.”
After her previous statements resurfaced, Miami issued a formal apology in an Instagram post in August of this year, saying that she did not intend to offend her fans with what she said. “I understand how it can be seen as offensive to the LGBTQ community,” her post said. “I also realize how insensitive my comments were to my fans and followers … my deepest apologies and heart goes out to those who have seen that tweet and were offended.”
