Kyle Van Noy Criticizes Chiefs’ Medical Staff for Handling of Injury During Season Opener

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Kyle Van Noy expresses frustration with the Kansas City Chiefs’ medical staff over their handling of his eye injury in the NFL season opener.

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Kyle Van Noy has publicly criticized the Kansas City Chiefs’ training staff for how they handled his eye injury during the NFL season opener last Thursday.

Van Noy sustained an orbital fracture while attempting to tackle Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the third quarter and was sidelined for the remainder of the game, approximately 40 minutes after the injury occurred.

On his “McCoy and Van Noy” podcast, Van Noy shared his disappointment with the Chiefs’ medical team, saying the response to his injury was inadequate.

“I was disappointed in the way the training staff of the Chiefs handled the situation,” Van Noy stated. “I was supposed to see an ophthalmologist, but it took an entire quarter for them to come down and talk to me in the locker room. To me, that’s unacceptable.”

Van Noy further labeled the situation as “unprofessional,” adding, “There were people in the room, and one of the doctors or a friend of the doctor was double-fisting styrofoam cups like everything was fine. I just found that very unprofessional.”

He also referenced the Chiefs’ 2023 NFLPA report card, where players gave the training staff an “F,” suggesting that the low grade was justified.

While the Chiefs are known for their on-field success, Van Noy believes their medical staff needs improvement.
