Laal Singh Chaddha is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film directed by Advait Chandan from a screenplay by Eric Roth and Atul Kulkarni.
Produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom18 Studios, it is a remake of the 1994 American film Forrest Gump which itself is based on Winston Groom’s 1986 novel of the same name.
The film features Aamir Khan as the title character alongside Kareena Kapoor, Naga Chaitanya (in his Hindi film debut) and Mona Singh.
Laal Singh Chaddha has been filmed in more than 100 Indian locations.
Principal photography began in October 2019 and concluded in September 2021, after multiple delays due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The film was initially scheduled for cinema release during multiple dates in 2020–2022, but kept getting delayed due to production halt caused by the pandemic, and was theatrically released worldwide on 11 August 2022, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan and Independence Day.

This will be Aamir Khan’s third film with Kareena Kapoor Khan after 3 Idiots and Talaash.
The film was shot around 100 different locations.
Atul Kulkarni shared the idea of making the film with Aamir Khan during Rang De Basanti 2006.
Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Mona Singh have earlier worked in 3 idiots.
In 1994,director Kundan Shah had planned a unofficial remake of Forest Gump with the title “Sheikh Chilli”. He had signed Anil Kapoor. Anil later backed off due to unknown reasons. Next Kundan Shah signed Shah Rukh Khan.
The film did not go beyond announcement. Sanjay Dutt was also approached for the same role. The film was finally restarted in 1996 with Firoz Nadiadwala as the producer,written by Ranjeet Kapoor,music by Jatin Lalit, with Anil Kapoor and Manisha in the lead.
Aamir Khan announced the project on his 54th birthday.On 14th March 2019.
Turkey is one of the shooting location of this movie.
Film was to release for Christmas on December 2020.But got delayed due to COVID Panademic.
Naga Chaitanya was roped in when Vijay Sethupathi backed out of the film. There were rumours that he left because of weight issues and could not do the role. Producer and the lead actor, Aamir Khan and the director, Advait Chandan were quick to make a casting decision and they brought in son of mega superstar Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya.
Kareena Kapoor was pregnant with her second child during the films shoot.
This is the first indian film whose trailer was shown on the IPL(Indian premier league) final.
Aamir Khan and his team had filmed some scenes at Jatayu Para in Chadayamangalam near Kollam which is famous for its giant rock sculpture of Jatayu, the mythical bird in Ramayana.
Atul Kulkarni will be making his debut as writer.It was him who had shared about the idea of this film with Aamir Khan.
Atul Kulkarni collaborated with Aamir Khan previously in the capacity of an actor in Rang De Basanti(2006). The Sikh prayer that plays in this film when an older Laal is tying the turban is from Rang De Basanti.
