Lil Tay’s successful open-heart surgery to remove a life-threatening tumor marks the beginning of her recovery journey. The rapper shared an update thanking fans for their support.
BollywoodFever: Lil Tay has undergone successful open-heart surgery to remove a life-threatening tumor, according to a statement shared on her Instagram account on Saturday, September 14.
The 17-year-old rapper’s team expressed gratitude for the surgeon, cardiologist, and medical team involved in the procedure, stating,
“We are overjoyed to share that Tay’s open-heart surgery was a great success! Thank you for the love, prayers, and positive energy you have all sent her way.”
The update included a video of Lil Tay resting in a hospital bed, connected to IVs and monitors, with a teddy bear at her bedside.
The statement concluded optimistically, saying, “We are off to a great start on the road to recovery.”
This news comes just a day after Lil Tay revealed her diagnosis of a life-threatening heart tumor via Instagram on Friday, September 13.
The post asked for love and prayers from her fans, accompanied by footage of an ultrasound.
Lil Tay was previously at the center of a death hoax in August 2023 when a social media post falsely claimed that she and her brother, Jason Tian, had died.
Lil Tay later revealed that the announcement was a hoax orchestrated by her estranged father, Christopher John Hope, after losing a court battle over her career and custody.
Hope, however, denied any involvement in the hoax, calling the accusations “false” in a statement to Rolling Stone.
Now, after regaining control of her Instagram and overcoming her health scare, Lil Tay is focusing on her recovery and future. “I finally have my freedom back,” she told Rolling Stone, hinting at her plans to pursue her career on her own terms.
