Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis reunite for “Freaky Friday 2,” bringing nostalgia and excitement as they return to Walt Disney Studios. The sequel hits theaters in 2025.
Bollywood Fever: Lindsay Lohan experienced a major sense of déjà vu on the set of her upcoming sequel, “Freaky Friday 2.” The star opened up about feeling like “a little kid again” as she returned to Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California, to film the continuation of her beloved 2003 body-swap comedy.
“Jamie [Lee Curtis] and I have stayed in touch over the years,” Lohan shared on Nightline. “You know how they say when you have a best friend or someone you’re really close with? If you cannot see them for years and years, but when you see them again, it’s like you never separated.”
Reflecting on her return to Disney, Lohan said, “I think really for me was when I went onto the Disney lot. And being back on the Disney lot because that’s not just Freaky Friday for me. That’s The Parent Trap, that’s Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, that’s Herbie. It’s so many moments for me. So when I got there, I kind of felt like this essence of a little kid again.”
She added, “I’m so grateful for every moment of it. Every second… I’m going to, like, get emotional. It’s a great experience.”
Lohan originally starred as Anna Coleman in the 2003 remake of the 1976 Disney classic, alongside Curtis as mom Tess Coleman. The plot followed the duo as they swapped bodies for a day after opening an enchanted fortune cookie, gaining insight into each other’s lives.
After years of speculation about a sequel, Lohan and Curtis began filming this month, sharing a nostalgic photo shoot in front of their neighboring dressing room trailers. “We’re back!” Lohan captioned a behind-the-scenes clip. Disney also announced, “The Colemans are back and coming to theaters in 2025! The sequel to Freaky Friday is now in production!”
The sequel, written by Jordan Weiss and directed by Nisha Ganatra, finds Anna all grown up with a daughter of her own and preparing to take on a stepdaughter with her new marriage. This new family dynamic sets the stage for another body swap adventure.
The cast for “Freaky Friday 2” includes Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Manny Jacinto, along with returning cast members Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao.
