Daia McGhee from Love Island USA Season 6 criticizes Ariana Madix’s handling of the reunion, questioning her neutrality and approach as a host.
Bollywood Fever: Love Island USA’s Daia McGhee recently shared her thoughts on how Ariana Madix handled the highly anticipated Season 6 reunion, airing her grievances on social media.
Following the reunion, which aired on August 19, McGhee took to a fan-captured TikTok live video to discuss her concerns about Madix’s approach during a key moment in the show.
McGhee recalled a moment during filming when the cast discussed the infamous fire pit scene and the debate over whether Leah Kateb or Liv Walker played a bigger role in the decision to send home Andrea Carmona, who was paired with Rob Rausch at the time.
According to McGhee, Madix asked the Islanders to raise their hands if they thought someone took a backseat in the elimination discussion.
When no one responded, Madix reportedly pressed the issue again, leading to a tense exchange.
McGhee claimed that Madix, a longtime cast member of Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules, then told the Islanders they needed to “just get over it,” comparing their experience to her own on reality TV, saying she was treated “way worse.”
This comment didn’t sit well with McGhee, who felt it was inappropriate for a host to compare their experiences with those of the contestants.
“Respectfully, as a host you don’t say your experience was way worse than what we are going through, because at the end of the day Love Island’s numbers did way bigger,” said McGhee, who was dumped from the villa on day 24 of the season.
She also criticized Madix for not maintaining neutrality, stating, “It’s your job to just be the mediator in the situation. It’s your job to ask the questions that people actually want to see.”
Following the reunion, several cast members, including Serena Page, JaNa Craig, Kaylor Martin, and Liv Walker, attended Madix’s Broadway performance in Chicago and even posed for a photo with her. McGhee was notably absent from the outing.
This isn’t the first time a Love Island host has faced criticism. Last year, former host Sarah Hyland had a tense exchange with contestant Keenan Anunay, who took issue with her tone when his partner, Vickala “Kay Kay” Gray, decided to leave the show with him.
Love Island USA Season 6 is now streaming on Peacock, where viewers can catch up on all the drama and reunions.
