Lupita Nyong’o remembers her late friend and Black Panther co-star Chadwick Boseman, sharing a touching tribute on Instagram in honor of his lasting impact.
Bollywood Fever: Lupita Nyong’o is paying tribute to the enduring legacy of her close friend and Black Panther co-star, Chadwick Boseman. On August 28, the Oscar-winning actress shared a poignant quote on Instagram in remembrance of Boseman, who passed away in 2020 at the age of 43 after a private battle with colon cancer.
“Grief never ends. But it changes,” read the heartfelt excerpt Lupita posted. “It is a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It’s the price of love.” In her own words, Lupita added, “Remembering Chadwick Boseman. Forever.”
Accompanying the emotional tribute was a black-and-white photo of Boseman, as well as a candid snapshot of the two friends sharing a laugh while holding each other close. The images captured the deep bond between the two actors, who starred together in the 2018 blockbuster Black Panther alongside Michael B. Jordan, Angela Bassett, and Daniel Kaluuya.

Lupita’s tribute is not the first time she has openly shared her grief over Boseman’s passing. Shortly after his death, she expressed her profound sense of loss in a September 2020 Instagram post, where she candidly wrote, “I am struggling to think and speak about my friend, Chadwick Boseman, in the past tense. It doesn’t make sense.”
Reflecting on the impact Boseman had on her life, Lupita described how his “quiet, powerful presence” and his ability to command time with ease left a lasting impression on her during the making of Black Panther. She noted that Boseman operated on a “higher frequency,” fully present in the moment yet seemingly aware of the distant future.

“He used his life force to tell meaningful stories,” Lupita wrote, underscoring the purpose-driven way Boseman lived his life and worked on his craft. “And now we tell his…”
Lupita’s tribute is a reminder of the profound love and respect she continues to hold for Boseman, whose influence and legacy remain deeply felt by those who knew him and by the countless fans who were touched by his work.
