A magnitude 6.9 earthquake hit near Peru’s coast on Friday, according to the German Research Center for Geosciences. No tsunami threat has been issued, says the U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center.

Bollywood Fever: A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck near the coast of Peru on Friday, according to the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ). The quake occurred at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles). Initially, GFZ reported the earthquake as a magnitude 6.4 but later revised it to 6.9.

Despite the quake’s significant magnitude, the U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center reported that there is no tsunami threat based on the available data.
