Eleven fans were injured, six hospitalized, after an escalator malfunction at the Brewers-Cubs game in Milwaukee. The incident occurred post-game at American Family Field.
Bollywood Fever: A malfunctioning escalator at Saturday’s Brewers-Cubs game in Milwaukee led to injuries for 11 fans, with one describing it as “the scariest thing that’s ever happened” to him.
“After the conclusion of today’s game, an escalator at American Family Field moving fans from the terrace to loge level malfunctioned,” read the team statement following the Brewers’ 5-3 loss to the visiting Cubs.
While no life-threatening injuries were reported, six of the 11 injured fans were taken to the hospital, and the other five were treated at the scene.
“Our onsite physician and EMS were on the scene immediately, and we are appreciative of their quick response,” the statement added.
CHGO Chicago producer Greg Braggs Jr. was among those hospitalized. He shared his experience on social media platform X, posting a selfie with two large bags of ice on his leg.
“Welp,” he wrote after the game. “I was one of them caught on this thing. A big portion of our group was on the escalator as it completely gave way with over 100 people on it. Probably the scariest thing that’s ever happened to me. Knee got f***ed up but at the end of the day, I got lucky it wasn’t worse.”
The incident overshadowed an already disappointing day for the Brewers, who lost to their former manager, the Cubs’ Craig Counsell.
The Cubs and Brewers are set to play the rubber match of the series on Sunday, with the first pitch scheduled for 1:10 pm local time.
