Man Fired After Googling “Stupid” Things at Work, Faces Backlash and Struggles to Find New Job

Josh Williams was fired after googling “stupid” things at work, including “Turkey teeth” and “Simon Cowell’s botched Botox.” He now faces job rejections due to his viral TikTok videos.

BollywoodFever: Josh Williams, a 26-year-old customer service administrator from Bristol, lost his job after spending around 50 hours at work googling random “stupid” things, including “Turkey teeth” and “Simon Cowell’s botched Botox.” Employed for only three months, Josh was called into a meeting by his bosses, where he was criticized for frequent sick days and wasting time online during work hours. He was subsequently fired, and now says his impulsive behavior has impacted his ability to find new employment.

Josh, who had paid for a Turkey teeth procedure prior to starting the job, admitted that his actions were a result of having too little work to do. He found himself browsing the web out of boredom, which ultimately led to his dismissal. Reflecting on the situation, he shared, “It was just stupid stuff. About Simon Cowell’s botched Botox… It was quite embarrassing.”

After his firing, Josh posted a series of TikTok videos detailing his experience, which gained attention online. However, the decision to go public backfired, as he claims he was rejected from three job opportunities after potential employers saw the viral videos. “I received a lot of hateful criticism,” he said, noting that some prospective employers told him his “values didn’t align” with their companies.

Despite the backlash, Josh earned around £450 from his TikTok content, which helped him cover some of his rent after losing his job. But now, he regrets keeping the video online, saying it has affected his professional life. “When I applied for other roles, they recognized the video and said they didn’t want me there.”

Josh has since found work as a supply chain coordinator in the food industry, but he admits the role isn’t a good fit for him. He also noted that his impulsive behavior, which he attributes to ADHD, contributed to his poor decision-making. Reflecting on his experience, Josh warns others to be cautious before posting anything online, even in the heat of the moment. “It might seem funny, but it’s one of the worst things you can do for your future job prospects.”

While some social media users criticized Josh for his behavior, others appreciated his sense of humor about the situation. Nonetheless, Josh’s experience serves as a reminder to think twice before sharing personal or professional matters on social media.
