The Married At First Sight community mourns the loss of Andrew Jury, a builder and original star of the New Zealand series, who passed away at the age of 33.
Bollywood Fever: The Married At First Sight (MAFS) community is mourning the loss of Andrew Jury, a builder and one of the original stars of the New Zealand series, who has tragically passed away at the age of 33.
Andrew, who appeared on the inaugural season of MAFS New Zealand in 2017, was known for his outgoing and charming personality. His sudden death has left his co-stars and fans in shock.
Fellow MAFS stars Brett and Angel Renall and Benjamin Blackwell announced Andrew’s passing in a heartfelt Instagram post. They shared, “We had the absolute pleasure of filming and participating in a show which leaves us intricately linked for a lifetime. Despite his struggles, Andrew was always friendly and the life of the party during our shared experience and he really valued his time on the show. At this time, our entire cast wish to send our deepest condolences and love to his family – Ben, Angel, Brett, Vicky, Haydn, Lacey, Claire, Dom, Aaron, Luke, Belinda.”
Andrew was matched with Vicky Gleeson-Stokes on the show, and the pair remained together until the series finale but ultimately parted ways after the show concluded. Reflecting on his experience a year later, Andrew questioned the ethics of the show and the authenticity of the matchmaking process. He expressed that he and Vicky were total opposites and that she was not the kind of partner he had requested. Additionally, he criticized the filming conditions of the show.
Following the news of Andrew’s death, the makers of MAFS New Zealand, Warner Bros Discovery, expressed their deepest condolences to his loved ones. In a statement, they said, “WBD takes duty of care extremely seriously and has protocols in place regarding the wellbeing of cast and crew. All MAFS NZ contributors have access to mental health professionals throughout the process, including pre-screening, during production and after broadcast.”
Andrew’s passing is a poignant reminder of the importance of mental health support for reality TV participants. The MAFS community stands united in offering their love and condolences to Andrew’s family and friends during this difficult time.
