Melania Trump faced criticism recently for promoting a high-priced piece of jewelry featuring a patriotically themed pendant from the USA Memorabilia collection.
The backlash arose when Melania introduced a $245 necklace aimed at “expressing immense gratitude and honoring all mothers” on Mother’s Day.
Despite the controversy, Melania has remained silent on her husband, Donald Trump’s hush money trial, with her most recent public appearance being at their son Barron’s high school graduation.
Taking to her Instagram account, Melania reshared a post from the USA Memorabilia Fortitude collection, featuring a pair of necklaces for sale on its website. This move comes after she previously sold Christmas ornaments through the site.
Over High-Priced Jewelry Promotion
The necklaces come in two variants: the Bravery and Liberty versions. The Bravery version, available in stainless steel and gold, features an engraved image of a soldier and the United States flag. The stainless steel version sells for $125 each, while the gold-plated design costs $175.
The Liberty version, also available in stainless steel and gold plated, retails for the same price. It features an eagle in flight in front of the U.S. flag, with the word “liberty” engraved on it.
“The Fortitude Collection celebrates our service members, our Nation, and our freedom,” a statement on USA Memorabilia’s website reads. Each design “can be engraved with names, initials, significant dates, and symbols to create a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry.” Customers can also receive a limited-edition digital collectible with their purchase.
Faces Backlash
Many people mocked Melania’s promotion in the comments section of her Instagram and Twitter posts, pointing out her silence on her husband’s legal issues. Some criticized the pricing of the items, accusing the Trumps of exploiting their supporters.
One person wrote, “You Trumps are pathetic. Constantly conning people out of their hard-earned money.”
“Yeah, sure, the proceeds go to veterans the same way the Trump Cancer charity money went to buy self-portraits! These people are DISGUSTING!!!!” another individual blew hot.
“Very cheap items sold at very high prices to people who need to choose between food, medicine, or baubles sold by a billionaire who will never look at them under any other circumstances!” commented a third person.
Another individual noted that the situation was “So sad and desperate,” adding, “A grift at the expense of the same soldiers your husband called ‘suckers’ and ‘losers’? Clearly, there is no bottom to the Trump Grift machine.”
