Mia Goth faces allegations of battery from an extra on the set of MaXXXine, who claims she kicked him and taunted him. Learn about the lawsuit and the film’s star-studded cast.
Bollywood Fever: Mia Goth is facing serious allegations from an extra on the set of MaXXXine, who claims she assaulted him during filming. The extra, James Hunter, has accused Goth of kicking him in the head while he was playing a bloody corpse on set, and is suing her for battery, seeking at least $500,000 in damages.
Hunter’s lawsuit, which surfaced in January, also names director Ti West and production company A24, accusing them of wrongful termination. The actor alleges that Goth, 30, bullied and intentionally kicked him during a scene, causing him serious pain and a concussion. He claims the incident left him with neck stiffness and ongoing discomfort.
In a recent interview with DreadCentral, Hunter provided more details about the alleged incident. He recounted, “On the fourth or fifth take, I’m laying on the left side of my ear. I hear her; she runs by me, and I hear her boot clamp down right next to my ear. I thought, oh, well, it’s dark out. She’s not really getting a beat on exactly where I’m laying.”
Despite informing the second assistant director, Hunter claims the issue persisted. “In the very next take, it is the same thing, except I got kicked, and I felt it. I heard the dirt and the leaves or grass rustling next to me, so I knew that she knew where I was. She runs up to me, but instead of stopping … I feel and hear her shuffle right before she gets to me. I get kicked.”
Hunter asserts that he endured the pain to continue working, having been promised multiple days of paid work. However, he claims that after the incident, Goth confronted him in a portapotty, allegedly saying, “Nobody will believe you because you’re nothing. Get the f*** off my set, you big baby.” He says he documented her words on a nearby call sheet.
In response to these allegations, A24 issued a statement to DailyMail.com: “The claims made in the complaint are simply not true. As this is in active litigation, we cannot say more at this time but continue to vigorously defend Mia and the entire filmmaking team against these extremely baseless allegations.”
Goth, married to actor Shia LaBeouf, has not directly addressed the lawsuit but expressed gratitude for A24’s support in a recent interview with The New York Times.
Hunter’s lawsuit also alleges that he received no medical assistance on set and faced further mistreatment. He described enduring uncomfortable conditions while covered in fake blood and lying on the ground for hours, dealing with ants and mosquitoes.
Following the incident, Hunter claims he was wrongfully terminated from the production. MaXXXine, the third installment of the X trilogy, is set in 1980s Los Angeles and follows Maxine Minx, the sole survivor of a massacre, as she pursues fame in Hollywood.
The film, featuring a star-studded cast including Lily Collins, Halsey, Elizabeth Debicki, and Moses Sumney, began production in April 2023 and wrapped the following month.
