Michigan’s Davis Warren Competing for Top QB Spot Ahead of Season Opener

As Michigan prepares for its season opener against Fresno State, senior quarterback Davis Warren is competing with Alex Orji for the starting role. Coach Sherrone Moore praises Warren’s development and playmaking abilities.

Bollywood Fever: With the University of Michigan’s football season opener against Fresno State just days away, the competition for the starting quarterback position in Ann Arbor remains intense.

Senior quarterback Davis Warren is in the running for the top spot, competing against fellow quarterback Alex Orji.

As the Wolverines prepare for their first game at the Big House, head coach Sherrone Moore offered some insight into Warren’s development and his chances of securing the starting role.

Although Coach Moore has yet to announce who will start under center for Michigan in Week 1, he had high praise for Warren during an interview with WXYZ-7 Detroit’s Brad Galli.

“Davis Warren, man, he’s so good,” Moore said on Monday. “He’s always been able to throw the ball, but it’s been about taking care of the football in the right way, and he’s done that throughout camp.”

Moore highlighted Warren’s consistent ability to make standout plays during practice, comparing him to current Wolverines quarterback JJ McCarthy.

“Every practice he makes a play, you’re like, kind of a ‘Wow’ play, some of the plays that JJ would make, and you’re just like, ‘Man, that’s another good play, that’s another good play, that’s another good play.'”

As Michigan gears up for the season, the battle between Warren and Orji for the starting quarterback position remains one of the key storylines.

Warren, standing 6-foot-2, has shown significant growth throughout camp, impressing the coaching staff with his arm talent and decision-making.

Whether he earns the starting nod or not, Warren’s development has undoubtedly added depth and competition to the Wolverines’ quarterback room.

Michigan fans will be eagerly watching to see who takes the field as the starting quarterback this Saturday against the Fresno State Bulldogs, as the Wolverines kick off what promises to be an exciting season.
