Minnesota Golden Gophers are underdogs as they prepare to defend the Floyd of Rosedale trophy against the Iowa Hawkeyes in a challenging Big Ten rivalry matchup.
BollywoodFever: The Minnesota Golden Gophers are gearing up for a fierce rivalry game on Saturday night as they defend The Floyd of Rosedale trophy against the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Despite hosting the game at Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, the Gophers enter the contest as 2.5-point underdogs, according to Fanduel and DraftKings sportsbooks.
Last year’s matchup saw Iowa narrowly miss out on a victory due to an invalid fair catch signal, resulting in a 12-10 loss to Minnesota in Iowa City.
The Hawkeyes, under head coach Kirk Ferentz, have had consistent success against Minnesota, winning six of the last seven meetings under P.J. Fleck, who is 1-6 against Iowa since taking over as the Gophers’ head coach in 2017.
Both teams enter the game with momentum. Minnesota rebounded from a 19-17 Week 1 loss to North Carolina with back-to-back shutout wins against Rhode Island (48-0) and Nevada (27-0), improving their record to 2-1.
Meanwhile, Iowa has posted a strong start to their season, shutting out Illinois State 40-0 in their opener and defeating Troy 38-21 after a narrow 20-19 loss to in-state rival Iowa State in Week 2.
The stage is set for an intense Big Ten rivalry showdown, with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Huntington Bank Stadium.
