Naomi Osaka ends her four-year coaching relationship with Wim Fissette, winning two Grand Slams together. The split comes as Osaka struggles to regain her form post-maternity break.
BollywoodFever: Naomi Osaka, former world number one, has announced her split from coach Wim Fissette after four years and two Grand Slam titles together.
The 26-year-old tennis star shared the news on Friday via Instagram, reflecting on their successful partnership.
“Four years, two slams, and a whole lot of memories,” Osaka wrote. “Thanks Wim for being a great coach and an even greater person. Wishing you all the best.”
Osaka’s ranking has dropped to 75th since returning to the tour nine months ago following a maternity break.
This season, she has struggled to find her form, reaching the quarter-finals in only two of the 16 tournaments she entered—Doha and ‘s-Hertogenbosch—and failing to advance past the second round in any of the four Grand Slams.
Despite her recent challenges, Osaka and Fissette’s time together produced memorable results, including two of her four Grand Slam victories.
