Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola, often compared to Patrick Mahomes, reveals Tim Tebow as his inspiration for wearing No. 15 as he leads the Cornhuskers to a strong start.
Bollywood Fever: Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has influenced many young football players, including Nebraska’s standout quarterback, Dylan Raiola.
However, despite the comparisons due to Raiola’s number, mannerisms, and hair, the young star revealed that his choice to wear No. 15 was not inspired by Mahomes but by another football icon.
In a recent interview, Raiola explained that he chose the number in honor of former Florida Gators quarterback Tim Tebow:
“I wore 15 in my first year of football, actually because of Tim Tebow. A strong Christian person, he played football at Florida, and I look up to people who have good character and are a good person. He was that guy at the time.”
Tebow, considered one of the greatest college quarterbacks, remains a strong influence on Raiola, who returned to wearing No. 15 after briefly switching to No. 1.
Raiola’s performance this season has been impressive. In his first two games, he passed for 238 and 185 yards, respectively, with three touchdowns and no interceptions, boasting a completion rate of over 70%.
The Cornhuskers are off to a 2-0 start, and Raiola looks to lead them to success, taking inspiration from both Tebow and Mahomes.
