The New York Knicks have signed veteran forward Marcus Morris Sr. to an Exhibit 9 contract, allowing him to compete for a roster spot in training camp alongside Landry Shamet and Chuma Okeke.
BollywoodFever: The New York Knicks have been one of the most active teams in the NBA this offseason, and they’ve just added another player to their lineup.
The Knicks announced today that they’ve signed veteran forward Marcus Morris Sr. to an Exhibit 9 contract.
This type of contract allows Morris to join the team for training camp, where he’ll compete for a spot on the final roster.
Just yesterday, the Knicks signed free-agent wing Landry Shamet to compete for the team’s 15th roster spot.
Now, with Morris, Shamet, and Chuma Okeke all on non-guaranteed deals, each player will need to prove themselves during training camp to secure their place on the team.
Although Morris only appeared in 49 games last season, he averaged 11 points per game during the 2022-23 season.
His shooting continues to play a significant role in his game, as he shot 42% from the field and 36% from three-point range, a skill that has become increasingly important as he’s aged.
As a seasoned veteran, Morris could add even more depth to the Knicks’ wing rotation. The team will likely consider his experience and shooting ability when deciding who will take the final roster spot.
