Philadelphia Eagles’ new addition, Nick Gates, remains unfazed by his late preseason play, focusing on adapting to his new team and showcasing his experience in the NFL.
Bollywood Fever: Nick Gates may have found himself playing late into the Philadelphia Eagles’ final preseason game, but the seasoned offensive lineman isn’t worried about what that might imply.
Gates, who previously played for the New York Giants and Washington Commanders, signed with the Eagles midway through training camp.
Although brought in to serve as a top backup, Gates faces the challenge of mastering a complex playbook with a new team.
This is why, unlike most players competing in the final preseason game, he wasn’t overly concerned about his status.
“If I was younger, it would definitely be more difficult, but this being my seventh year, it’s not super hard learning the playbook, and they did a good job teaching me it.
But (making an early impression) was definitely on my mind,” Gates said. “I just wanted to go out there and be me and do what I do. It’s kind of the way I went about it and went about my business.”
While there’s no guarantee Gates will make the Eagles’ 53-man roster, his five-year starting experience in the league brings valuable depth that could attract interest from other organizations.
