MLB umpire Nick Mahrley remains sidelined with a concussion after being struck by Giancarlo Stanton’s broken bat during a Yankees game. He will miss at least two weeks.
Bollywood Fever: Umpire Nick Mahrley will be sidelined for a second consecutive week after sustaining a concussion during an Aug. 25 game between the Colorado Rockies and the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.
The 41-year-old was struck by Giancarlo Stanton’s shattered bat in the fifth inning, with the barrel hitting Mahrley on the left side of his mask and knocking it off.
Following the Yankees’ 10-3 victory, Major League Baseball confirmed that Mahrley had been diagnosed with a concussion.
On Tuesday, MLB announced that Mahrley is still under medical evaluation and will be out until at least Sunday.
Mahrley, who made his major league debut on Aug. 3, 2017, became a full-time member of the MLB umpiring staff in 2023.
