As Ohio State takes on Marshall in a 9:00 A.M. Pacific kickoff, the Buckeyes aim to continue their strong start behind QB Will Howard and a potent offense.
BollywoodFever: The Ohio State Buckeyes, ranked #3 in the nation, are set to face off against Marshall (1-1) in Columbus today, with kickoff slated for 9:00 A.M. Pacific.
The game is part of Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff broadcast, where the Buckeyes will look to extend their winning streak after two dominant victories to start the season.
After a bye last weekend, Ohio State cruised to lopsided wins against Akron (52-6) and Western Michigan (56-0), showcasing a powerful offense that currently ranks 4th in the FBS in scoring with 54.0 points per game.
Despite their impressive start, some critics note that Ohio State’s competition has been relatively soft, with their out-of-conference schedule ranking 127th in the country.
New offensive coordinator Chip Kelly has wasted no time implementing a high-powered offense, led by Kansas State transfer quarterback Will Howard, who has passed for 520 yards and 4 touchdowns in the first two games.
The offense is loaded with talent, including standout freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, who has already racked up 211 yards and 3 touchdowns on 11 receptions.
The running back duo of Quinshon Judkins and TreyVeyon Henderson has also been a key factor in Ohio State’s early success.
Together, they’ve combined for 294 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns, averaging over 7 yards per carry. With this dynamic offense, the Buckeyes have proven they can dominate on both the ground and through the air.
However, despite Urban Meyer calling Ohio State the best offense in college football, the Buckeyes will soon face much tougher competition.
Their upcoming schedule includes Michigan State, Iowa, Oregon, Nebraska, and Penn State—games that will provide a true test of their title contention.
While Ohio State’s out-of-conference schedule has been relatively weak, the remainder of their season will be challenging, with the rest of their schedule ranking 24th in difficulty.
The Buckeyes will look to keep their momentum going as they continue their pursuit of a Big Ten Championship and a College Football Playoff berth.
