Ohio, Bollywood Fever: An Ohio teacher, Alexa Stakely, heroically lost her life while saving her six-year-old son from a carjacker. The 29-year-old speech-language pathologist threw herself onto the hood of her Honda CR-V as the thief sped away, ultimately sustaining fatal injuries.

The tragic incident occurred when Stakely had loaded her sleeping son into the car and ran back to the babysitter’s apartment to retrieve something. During her brief absence, the carjacker jumped into the vehicle, which was left running, and attempted to drive away, as reported by WSYX. Stakely chased after the car and, in a desperate bid to stop the thief, threw herself onto the moving vehicle.
The suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, eluding capture. Police arrived to find the car parked with the child still asleep inside.
Columbus Division of Police officers responded to the incident at the White Oak Park Condominiums, north of Canal Winchester in southeast Columbus, at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival, officers found Stakely critically injured. She was transported to Mount Carmel East Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Stakely was a beloved speech-language therapist at Winchester Trail Elementary in Canal Winchester Schools, where she was affectionately known as “Ms. Alexa” by her students. The district posted a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, highlighting her dedication and the heroic circumstances of her death.
“Ms. Stakely’s family shared that she died heroically while trying to save her 6-year-old son during a carjacking. Thankfully, her son was not injured and is now with family. Please keep Alexa’s son, family, and friends in your prayers during this difficult time,”.
