Oklahoma Sooners’ QB Jackson Arnold Faces Major Test Against Tennessee as SEC Play Begins

Oklahoma Sooners’ Jackson Arnold must step up in a crucial SEC matchup against Tennessee. After inconsistent offensive performances, Arnold looks to lead the Sooners to victory.

BollywoodFever: The 2024 season has brought excitement for the Oklahoma Sooners as they enter a new era in the SEC. However, the first three games have revealed inconsistencies, especially on the offensive side.

Despite their 3-0 start, Oklahoma’s offense ranks a disappointing No. 108 in total offense, No. 114 in passing offense, and No. 67 in rushing offense.

Sophomore quarterback Jackson Arnold, a former five-star recruit, has struggled with consistency. So far, Arnold is completing 62.8% of his passes for 487 yards, seven touchdowns, and two interceptions.

ESPN’s Paul Finebaum, speaking on SoonerScoop’s YouTube show, expressed concerns about Oklahoma’s offense, especially as they face a formidable opponent in Tennessee this weekend.

“He has to show up Saturday night,” Finebaum remarked. There’s not a lot of reason based on three games to give me hope that OU has a good offense or a great offense.

Arnold’s inexperience is evident, having only started four games in his college career. To add to the challenge, Oklahoma has been without four of its top five wide receivers and three starting offensive linemen. The running game has also struggled, offering little support.

However, Arnold demonstrated his versatility in the recent game against Tulane, rushing for 97 yards and scoring two touchdowns.

As SEC play kicks off this weekend, Arnold faces a tough challenge against the Tennessee Volunteers. Tennessee, riding a hot streak, is currently ranked No. 2 in both total offense and defense.

The Volunteers are averaging 63.7 points per game while allowing just 4.3, positioning them as the No. 3 ranked defense.

For Oklahoma to have any chance of winning their first SEC conference game, Arnold and the offense will need to elevate their performance significantly. The pressure is on, and this game could be a defining moment for the Sooners’ young quarterback.
