Footage shows panicked passengers being escorted off a Delta plane following a collision at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. No injuries reported.

Bollywood Fever: Footage from inside a Delta plane reveals passengers being escorted off after a collision with another flight on the runway of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, America’s busiest airport. The incident occurred on Tuesday when a Tokyo-bound flight clipped the back of a regional jet headed for Louisiana.

The footage, captured by KSHB 41 producer Nathan Pike, shows passengers from the smaller aircraft being led off the jet by crew members after the alarming event. Ground crew can be seen directing passengers onto the tarmac as the camera pans to reveal the damage caused by the collision. Nearby, buses are waiting to transport those who were aboard at the time of the crash.

In his video, Pike shared: “Our Delta flight just got hit by another plane on the taxiway in Atlanta. Our flight was full of journalists on our way to our sister station in Lafayette, Louisiana, to help with hurricane coverage. Delta put us on buses and has corralled us into a private room at Atlanta Hartsfield.”

Although 277 passengers were reportedly onboard, no injuries have been reported. Tampa meteorologist Jason Adams from WTFS TV was also on the regional plane at the moment of impact. He described the scene on X (formerly Twitter):

“Well, that was terrifying. Taxiing out for the flight from Atlanta to Louisiana, another plane appears to have clipped the back of our plane. Very jarring, metal scraping sounds then loud bangs. We’re fine. No fire or smoke. Awaiting instructions.”

Delta later confirmed that an Airbus A350 struck the Lafayette-bound plane while both were on adjacent runways, causing damage to the tail of the regional jet and the wing of the A350. A spokesperson said:

Following an incident at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport earlier today, Delta worked with each customer from flights DL295 to Tokyo-Haneda and DL5526 to Lafayette, Louisiana, to provide accommodation on alternate aircraft scheduled to depart Tuesday afternoon. We apologize to our customers for the experience. No customer or crew member injuries have been reported, and operations are continuing as normal at the Atlanta airport. Meanwhile, Delta is cooperating with the NTSB and other authorities while Delta TechOps teams prepare to safely move both aircraft to maintenance hangars.
