Flag football quarterback Darrell Doucette claims he’s better than NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes, but his bold statement is more about seeking attention than reality.
Bollywood Fever: No disrespect to flag football quarterback Darrell Doucette, but he seems to have a bit too much dip on his chip. Whether it’s due to insecurity or something else, his recent comments suggest he’s overstepping his bounds.
As discussions heat up about NFL players potentially joining flag football at the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics, Doucette has been vocal about how they won’t simply replace long-time flag football players like himself.
In a recent interview with TMZ, Doucette even went as far as to claim that he’s actually better than Patrick Mahomes, citing a “better IQ” for the game.
Yes, that’s the same Mahomes with three Super Bowl wins (and counting), three Super Bowl MVPs (and counting), and two NFL MVPs (and counting) for the Kansas City Chiefs.
To put it plainly, Doucette’s assessment is false on every level. It’s likely he’s just trying to grab some attention with these outlandish comments.
When Mahomes got wind of Doucette’s comparison, he didn’t stoop to roasting the flag footballer. Instead, he took the high road, responding with the famous 50 Cent meme where the rapper asks, “I’m like, what he say [expletive] me for?”
Mahomes’ response shows a level of humility and security in his accomplishments that Doucette seems to lack. Mahomes knows he’s special and doesn’t feel the need to tear down a clearly inferior athlete who’s trying to punch up with bizarre call-outs. His play on the field speaks for itself.
As for Doucette, if NFL players do decide to participate in flag football at the Olympics, he shouldn’t hold his breath about being involved. NFL players are the best in the world, period. Now imagine skill players like Mahomes without having to worry about getting hit by a vicious pass-rusher—it’s not even close.
That’s just how life works. It’s time for Doucette to move on.
