YouTube star Paul Harrell dies at 58 after battling pancreatic cancer. In a posthumous video, Harrell reflects on his life, career, and hopes for his channel’s future.
Bollywood Fever: Paul Harrell, a YouTube star known for his expertise in wilderness survival skills and firearm safety, passed away at the age of 58 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
The news of his death was shared in a posthumously released video on his channel on Tuesday, September 3.
In the heartfelt video recorded in December 2023, Harrell directly addressed his viewers, saying,
“I’ll get right to the point: As I’m recording this, it is December 2023, and I’m giving my manager Brad Nelson instructions to publish this upon my death. So, if you’re watching me, I’m dead.”
Harrell publicly announced his cancer diagnosis in July 2023, sharing that his doctors had “caught it early.”
However, in his final video, Harrell revealed that the disease had progressed faster than expected.
“Well, we did catch it early but not as early as I had thought,” he explained. “And it has spread faster than I thought it would. You may have seen me recently using this crutch when I told you I broke my hip. Well, it wasn’t because I was injured in any kind of accident, it was because the cancer spread to my bones.”
In the emotional farewell, Harrell reflected on his time as a YouTube creator and made several requests to his audience.
He asked Patreon supporters to continue their support in hopes that his brother and crew would carry on the channel’s content.
Harrell also warned against pirating his videos, urging viewers to only watch his content on his official channel.
Harrell, who created over 400 videos focusing on outdoor survival and firearm safety, thanked his audience for their support over the years.
“I can’t even begin to articulate how beneficial and appreciative those things are,” he said, adding that his goal was to provide useful and interesting information.
He expressed hope that his content had helped viewers make better choices and save money on gear that wasn’t a good fit.
Despite the somber message, Harrell’s video carried a tone of gratitude and reflection on his successful career, leaving a lasting legacy for his followers.
