Post Malone’s country album ‘F-1 Trillion’ debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, dethroning Taylor Swift’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ for just the second time since April.
Bollywood Fever: For only the second time since April, a name other than Taylor Swift sits atop the Billboard 200 albums chart.
Post Malone’s latest album, F-1 Trillion, marked his successful foray into country music by debuting at No. 1 for the week ending August 22, with 250,000 album-equivalent units sold in its first week.
The album features standout tracks like “I Had Some Help,” featuring Morgan Wallen, and a collaboration with Blake Shelton titled “Pour Me A Drink.” F-1 Trillion achieved the second-biggest debut for a country album in 2024, trailing only behind Beyoncé‘s Cowboy Carter.
Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD) slipped to No. 3 on the chart, while Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess climbed to the second spot.
Before Post Malone, the only other artist to unseat Swift’s 11th studio album was Eminem with The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) in June, though Swift quickly reclaimed the top position the following week.
Malone, whose real name is Austin Post, collaborated with Swift on TTPD’s opening track, “Fortnight.”
Swift has publicly praised Malone’s versatility, sharing her admiration for his work after he played his new album for her on the set of their music video.
“Was lucky enough to hear this amazing music on the set of the ‘fortnight’ video when Austin played it for me,” Swift, 34, posted on her Instagram Story, accompanied by a behind-the-scenes photo. “It’s incredible how versatile his artistry is. And just the most down-to-earth guy alive.”
Malone, 29, reciprocated the praise, calling Swift a “once in a lifetime” talent in an Instagram post from April.
“I am floored by your heart and your mind, and I am beyond honored to have been asked to help you with your journey,” Malone shared. “I love you so much. Thank you, Tay.”
Despite his success, Malone has made it clear that he has no desire to reach the pop star status of Swift or Beyoncé.
Having collaborated with both Swift and Beyoncé (on the Cowboy Carter track “Levii’s Jeans”), Malone told The New York Times on August 8 that he can’t imagine the pressure of being at their level.
“I can’t even imagine being at their level — it must suck,” Malone remarked. “That’s so much pressure.”
